Mohawk’s market practices reviewed by global law firm for anti-competitive conduct

  • Findings include antitrust violations with negative impacts on flooring companies and consumers
  • VILOX underscores importance of unrestricted choice in technology

Helsingborg, Sweden, 21 December 2024 – VILOX, a technology company specializing in flooring installation solutions, today announced that it has retained a well-renowned international law firm to assess antitrust issues relating to competition-hampering practices and cooperation in the flooring mechanical locking market, most noteworthy employed by flooring giant Mohawk Industries, Inc. and its subsidiary Flooring Industries Ltd. Sarl (Unilin).

Findings indicate that a wealth of the documented practices distort competition on an already highly concentrated licensing market for click technologies and cause artificially high market prices. The anticompetitive conduct clearly harms manufacturers of flooring panels and, ultimately, end-consumers.

VILOX underscores the importance for manufacturers to enjoy unrestricted choice in selecting their technology partners and remains hopeful that any company engaging in competition-hampering behavior will recognize the imprudence of such tactics and opt instead to foster fair competition between licensors. VILOX aims to continue to be a constructive contributor, leveraging its innovations and resources to enrich the market landscape.
